Frequently Asked Questions

  • BioSecurity and Testing.
All of our adult flock has been codon tested. We use this information so as to ensure our matings have at least 1 RR parent and lambs will test either QR or RR. All adult flock members have been tested for OPP, CL, and Johnes. We test in groups of 20-40 and at designated intervals whereas each adult animal will be tested at least every 12-18 months.
  • Is Round House Farm an active member of the Katahdin Hair Sheep International (KHSI)?
Yes. Round House Farm is an active and current member of KHSI and commited to remaining in good standings with the registry. Buyers who purchase lambs from us can rest assured that their Registration and Trnsfer paperwork is a Top Priority for us and it will be submitted on the next business day after the transaction is completed.
  • Is Round House Farm an active and submitting member of National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP)?
Yes. Round House Farm made the commitment to join and submit data to NSIP in November 2019. We are aware that our EBV numbers will be somewhat low/flat for a minimum of 3 years/lambing cycles. We have added several new herd sires so as to increase numbers in the traits we prefer, plus we are commited to reporting data regularly on our current sires to improve their numbers.
  • Does Round House Farm raise/sell any Commercial or Recorded Katahdins?
No. All of our flock is 100% Registered. We do not breed any Commercial or Recorded sheep.
